My rudimentary attempt at colouring in the upper of the monster. I tried to make use of one of the hands as well.
I also found the the smoke effect doesn't work.
After practising drawing horses, here's an action sketch of the monster.

One of the parameters was for an exoskeleton, and I realised that the stone can form that as the liquid form can hold it in place.
